The use of needles shorter than this is not permitted.<\/p><\/div><\/aside><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sites for intramuscular injections<\/h3>\n\n\n<aside class=\"my-6 w-full rounded-2xl bg-disclaimer-gray px-6 py-4 text-fg sm:my-8\"><div class=\"spasilen-disclaimer-body\"><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Attention:<br><\/strong>When performing intramuscular injections, the body mass index (BMI)* must be taken into account, and the following recommendations should be observed:<br>\u2022 Patients with normal body weight (18.5 \u2264 BMI \u2264 25)* may receive intramuscular injections in the commonly used body areas (buttock or thigh);<br>\u2022 If the patient&#8217;s body weight is below or above normal (BMI \u2264 18.5 or BMI \u2265 25)*, it is necessary to consult a doctor about the possibility of using Spasilen, taking into account the individual characteristics of body structure, as well as the choice of site for performing the intramuscular injection with the injector.<br><br><em>*BMI \u2014 body mass index (World Health Organization classification). The formula for calculating BMI:<br>BMI = M \/ H\u00b2, where M is body mass (kg), H is height (m)<\/em><\/p><\/div><\/aside>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following body sites are suitable for performing intramuscular injections:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the gluteus maximus muscle,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the vastus lateralis muscle of the thigh,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the rectus femoris muscle,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the deltoid muscle of the upper arm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gluteal region, gluteus maximus muscle (upper outer quadrant of the buttock)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To identify this area, draw an imaginary horizontal line from the start of the gluteal cleft to the greater trochanter of the femur. If a needle of insufficient length is used, the medication may end up in fatty tissue rather than muscle tissue, which will reduce the rate of absorption and weaken its effect. In this case, to perform the injection you should consult medical personnel or choose a different injection site.<\/p><\/div><\/aside><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vastus lateralis muscle of the thigh and rectus femoris muscle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In adults, the injection sites in the vastus lateralis muscle of the thigh are determined as follows: one hand&#8217;s width (of an average person) below the greater trochanter toward the front surface of the thigh, and one hand&#8217;s width above the knee, in the middle third of the quadriceps femoris muscle. Insert the syringe into the cartridge.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open the injector lid. Fig. 6<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What should happen:<\/strong><br>First click \u2014 needle insertion (a simulation; the needle is still in its cap).<br>Then a steady delivery follows.<br>Second click \u2014 automatic needle retraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you heard two clicks, the setup is correct and the injector is ready for use with this syringe size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If something went wrong:<\/strong><br>No second click \u2014 the cartridge is not snapped all the way in, or the pusher\/lifter is not cocked. Repeat steps 1\u20132.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If, after re-doing the setup, the needle retraction mechanism still does not work, record the setup process on video and contact the manufacturer. Contact details are provided at the end of the Instructions for Use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>When to repeat the setup.<\/strong><br>If you keep using the same syringes (same batch), setting up once is enough. The trigger button will not activate if the injector is not pressed firmly enough against the injection site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">c. After the trigger button is pressed, the needle insertion mechanism activates (first click). The medication is then delivered. Next, the needle retraction mechanism activates (second click). The injection is complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">d. Press a wipe or swab with antiseptic solution against the injection site.
